Vegan BBQ Beer Baked Beans
BBQ and summertime go hand and hand, making a perfect pair. When I see BBQ, I immediately think of baked beans. This delish side dish can make a meal feel complete. This recipe shows how to make a rich and perfect baked bean and they are vegan. Stewing away during the day and filling your house with those amazing BBQ smells. Great for any picnic, BBQ, party, or family night, you can't go wrong. You will have your family and friends asking for seconds and thirds, as well as the recipe. Perfect paired with your favorite BBQ main dishes as well as a great late night snack...yeah we all know you do it. Serve hot or enjoy cold. We won't tell if you sneak tastes out of the pot here and there. Enjoy!

Vegan BBQ Beer Baked Beans

Ingredients

-1 lb dried pinto beans, rinsed and drained
-1 Tablespoon olive oil or favorite oil (hemp works great)
-1 medium onion or 1 1/2 cups, chopped
-1 Tablespoon garlic, chopped
-1/3 cup brown sugar
-1/2 cup molasses
-1 Tablespoon black pepper
-1 Tablespoon salt
-1 teaspoon hot sauce
-2 Tablespoons spicy brown mustard
-1/2 cup ketchup
-1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
-2 Tablespoons vegan Worcestershire sauce
-3 Tablespoons soy sauce
-1/4 cup maple syrup 
-1 teaspoon or envelope vegan ham or pork bouillon 
-1 12 ounces (1 1/2 cups) bottle vegan beer (your favorite for drinking)

Directions
Place the beans in a large bowl and cover with cold water and cover with plastic wrap.

Refrigerate overnight. Drain and rinse the beans and then drain again.

Drained Beans
Place the beans in large pot with 2 quarts water. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer for about 50 minutes, or until tender. Drain the beans, reserving the cooking liquid.

Heat the oven to 225 Degrees

Transfer the beans to a medium Dutch oven or a bean pot with 1 Tbsp oil.

Beans go in 
Place all the ingredients into the pot over the beans, mix to combine all the ingredients together.

Mix to Combine
Place the lid on top and bake for 6 to 8 hours.

Ready to go into the Oven
Lid goes on, Ready to Bake
Check occasionally; if the beans are too dry, add 1/2 cup more of the cooking liquid. If you like, you can remove the lid for the last 30 minutes to thicken the sauce. Serve hot with your favorite BBQ main dishes.
